KETCHIKAN, 20th June.
We woke up in Ketchikan, Alaska, “Salmon Capital of the World”.
Unfortunately it had passed its salmon heyday, and was now a horrid little tourist trap. Almost every shop in town sold the same junk and was owned by the cruise ship lines.
10kms out of town was the most stunning rain forest and the fabulous activity of Zip-lining. We harnessed up and trucked to the top of the mountain. We then walked and climbed upward and ever upward. The suspension bridge was a bit of a worry!
We rappelled along 12 zip lines through the canopy back down the mountain. Scary and fantastic. Sarah believes that this was the closest she will ever come to flying (without a machine). It all finished with a 250 foot slide down through a dark tunnel. Do it again! Do it again! Do it again!
Brilliant.
