1st May – Singapore, Singapore
After our late afternoon arrival we check into our hotel, which was lovely, and went exploring.
We then got Tim, and sat but the river having a few beverages until it was our turn at the Crab place.
We spent time by the river while in search of the perfect ‘Black Pepper Crab’ – a signature dish. And it was worth the two hour wait.
In search of the perfect “Black Pepper Crab – a signature dish.
We found it. We beat it. And it was good!
The view from my window.
Saturday 2nd May
I woke up to what sounded like a construction site collapse. An amazing noise. Then again a few minutes later. When I looked out the window it was a thunder storm.
The noise was amazing. Totally different to any thunder I had ever heard. Cool lightning as well.
It was then the Hop On Hop Off bus and my tour of Singapore. Closest stop was about 10 minutes away. Lovely.
The Botanic Gardens – one of only two cities in the world to have a rainforest in the city centre. The orchids were amazing. Some looked like aliens. Awesome but so hot!
The orchids were amazing. Some looked like aliens.
In the words of Robin Williams…”Hot, Damned Hot!”
Marine Bay Sands Hotel – the big one with the pool on top, built to look like a boat. It even had navigation and searchlights.
A view over to the Gardens by the Bay. Huge tree like structures covered in ferns and the like
Lunch of course was Singapore Noodles!
Orchard Road.
Back on the Metro system. The best I have been on – even better than The Tube in London.
When they talk about Singapore being clean – you have no idea. Even a man to squeegee the public ponds.
I also wandered around Orchard Road for some time and came back on the Metro system. The best I have been on – even better than the Tube in London.
And past many other famous locations.
We then went down to our favourite bar for happy hour and had a few Mojitos…again.
A trip back to ‘Gardens by the Bay’ for the evening light show. Spectacular.
………….for the evening light show. Spectacular. A laser show to music. Amazing. You sat on the perfect grass and were mesmerised for 20 minutes.
Dinner was at a place called ‘Satay by the Bay’ which was an eating place used by many locals. The food was amazing – and so much better priced than last night. LOL.
And “YES”, I did see an otter.
Singapore was lovely. The food was amazing and everything was so nice – and clean! I didn’t eat a single thing that wasn’t fantastic.
(( If you are researching Singapore there is another visit there on the Asia 2015 trip – http://www.rainatravels.com/asia-2015/710-2/ ))
3rd May – Rhapsody of the Seas
Boarding was very quick and easy. The D+ line was very short. The normal line was huge!
But it was so hot – not just hot but humid. Singapore was covered in a huge sweat cloud.
See ya Singapore. I’ll be back in November.
